I have been very proud to be a community governor at OLGA since 2016.
I am active in local campaigns and activities as a member of Tower Hamlets Green Party. I have lived in Tower Hamlets for about thirty years.
My parents were both primary school teachers so I have always had an interest in education and primary schools in particular.
My work is as a criminal defence barrister. I also have some experience in dealing with finances in charities and businesses and so I was really pleased to become the Chair of the Resources Committee at OLGA. This committee overseas the financial management of the school as well as overseeing the management of staff numbers, premises and all the things needed to keep a school the size of OLGA running smoothly.
It has been a great privilege to help contribute to a school community which is so committed to providing a great educational experience for the pupils to help them be the best that they can be.
I’ve been a parent governor since March 2019, and am the current (and new!) Chair of Governors. This means that I work with our Head Teacher, Lisa, to ensure that our school is effectively led and managed. My daughters both attend Olga; this inspired me to get involved with the governorship of the school. I am delighted to be able to support Olga as it develops and grows.
In terms of my expertise and experience, my professional background is in law. I was a barrister in London for nine years, specialising in health and safety and personal injury cases. This means that I was a natural fit to become the Health and Safety Link Governor. I am currently studying for a PhD in Sociology at the LSE, focusing on social mobility into the legal profession. I have a keen interest in education and its role in shaping professional and occupational outcomes.
In my spare time (when I have it!), I enjoy running and watching Vicky Park Rangers FC.
Holly Garrard has two children at the school. In her professional life, she is a lawyer who specialises in education and employment law. In her personal life, she is a keen musician and also loves running, swimming and cycling (sometimes putting them together for a triathlon). Before becoming a Parent Governor, she was Chair of the Roman Road Trust. Holly became a Governor because she wants to do her bit to make Olga ‘the best it can be’.
Lee has worked in the commercial insurance sector at Lloyd’s for over 30 years. During this time he has been actively involved in various insurance market Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
Lee began his association with Olga through their Reading Partners programme and also supports the school’s Sports Days and Science Week. In 2018 Lee was invited to become a co-opted Governor. In addition to Lee’s position on the schools Governing Board he is also a member of both the Resources and Pay Committee’s. Lee also took part in the selection process for the schools new Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher positions and is also part of the Head Teacher Performance Review.
In addition to Lee’s role with Olga he has volunteered as part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network which is a global community of camps and programmes for seriously ill children. Over the last ten years Lee has volunteered as a Counselor and more recently as part of the Hero’s Journey programme at the Hole In The Wall Gang Camp in CT, USA.
My name is Lorraine Moss and I am a co-opted governor at Olga Primary School. I live and work in the Borough and my current role is Healthy Early Years Co-ordinator for Tower Hamlets. I am passionate about working with children and in the community, and I have worked in Children’s Centres for 13 years as a Business Support Officer and, previously I was a registered childminder in Tower Hamlets.
Louis Coiffait-Gunn has lived in East London since 2007 and been a school governor since 2010. He's also a trustee of a university.
